Proof of Growth

Position 1 Across Core Terms

Keyword ranking report showing a Surrey homecare provider in position 1 for multiple core local care terms.

This snapshot shows multiple priority service-area keywords sitting in position 1, not just one isolated win.

First-Page Coverage Across Surrey

Keyword ranking report showing first-page rankings for a Surrey homecare provider across Dorking, Betchworth, Brockham, and nearby care searches.

The visibility was not limited to one town. Rankings extended across Dorking, Betchworth, Brockham, and nearby care searches.

Depth of Local Coverage

Additional keyword ranking report showing broad first-page rankings for a Surrey homecare provider across commercial local homecare searches.

A second ranking snapshot shows the same pattern: broad first-page coverage across commercial homecare queries, not a handful of vanity terms.

Semrush Growth Snapshot

Semrush growth data supports the ranking proof. Organic traffic rose to 535 monthly visits while visibility and keyword coverage strengthened across the campaign period.

01

Challenge

The client is a Surrey-based provider of domiciliary care services for elderly and vulnerable adults. In a sector where trust and local visibility directly drive enquiries, their organic performance was being distorted by a problem that often goes undetected: invalid traffic.

Reported click-through rates were anomalously high and sessions from locations including India and Cyprus were inflating the numbers, creating a false picture of campaign health. The evidence pointed back to low-quality SEO work from dubious providers whose efforts appeared designed to manufacture artificial growth in reports while delivering little more than bot traffic. Beneath that noise, genuine local visibility was underperforming. They needed an honest diagnosis before any real growth strategy could be built on top of it.

02

Solution

The first priority was identifying the fraudulent traffic pattern and separating it from the misleading story created by those earlier SEO efforts. By cross-referencing Google Search Console data with Analytics sessions, I pinpointed the discrepancy between reported clicks and genuine user behaviour. The sources were documented clearly and presented to the client - transparency over flattering numbers.

With clean data as the baseline, I conducted a full local SEO audit covering Google Business Profile optimisation, local citation consistency, on-page localisation signals, and healthcare-appropriate schema markup.

The on-site content work focused on building topical authority for high-intent local queries. Service pages were restructured with clear content hierarchies, FAQ sections addressing real patient and family concerns, and trust signals appropriate to the regulated healthcare sector.

A citation audit identified and corrected inconsistent NAP data across over 20 directories - a common suppressor of Local Pack visibility for businesses that have moved or rebranded at any point in their history.

03

Result

The client achieved top 3 Local Pack positions for their primary service area terms, and qualified organic sessions rose by 40% once the artificial bot traffic was stripped out of the baseline.

The ranking gains were not vague. Core local queries such as "adult day care surrey downs," "home help surrey downs," and "live-in care surrey downs" reached position 1. Terms like "hospital to home care dorking," "post hospital care at home dorking," and "domiciliary care betchworth" moved into position 2, while broader commercial searches such as "home care in dorking" and "home care agency in dorking" reached position 3. That is what real local SEO progress looks like: coverage across the service area, not one or two vanity rankings.

The campaign made one thing clear: measuring real SEO performance means measuring the quality of traffic, not its volume. Exposing the bot traffic issue - and the kind of shady SEO work that created it - was more valuable than continuing to report fake growth.

The fully optimised Google Business Profile became their top single source of new service enquiries within the first quarter, demonstrating how powerful a well-executed local SEO foundation can be in the care sector.
