How Programmatic SEO Took a New Marketplace From No Results to 5.1K Google Clicks and Its First Order

A brand-new digital asset marketplace on a brand-new domain saw no growth for three months, and the client had all but given up. Programmatic SEO, backed by a 50% fee cut until results arrived, turned it around: Google clicks grew from 58 to 5.1K in six months, reaching 70+ a day, and search delivered the first paid order.

Proof of Growth

58 Clicks to 5.1K Clicks

Google Search Console comparison for an anonymised digital asset marketplace showing 5,100 clicks and 51,400 impressions in the last six months against 58 clicks and 281 impressions in the previous six months.

The turnaround in one view. Google clicks went from 58 in the previous six months to 5.1K in the last six, and impressions from 281 to 51.4K. Average position moved from 2.6 to 19.6 because the site now appears for far more searches, including many it is still climbing for.

Three flat months, then lift-off. Clicks barely moved from March to mid-June 2026. From late June the programmatic pages broke through, and by August the site was earning 70 to 90 clicks a day.

Challenge

The client is a new digital asset marketplace, where buyers around the world purchase established online assets from sellers.

It was starting from zero: a brand-new website on a brand-new domain, with no authority, no history, and no rankings. I worked on it for about six months, although development delays meant the SEO work itself added up to roughly four. I don't invoice month by month; I send the next invoice only once the agreed work has been delivered.

The hardest part was the start. For the first three months, there was no growth at all. I take on every project confident that I can show movement within three months, but this site did not move. The client was frustrated and had all but given up on seeing results from SEO. I was even more frustrated. The client understood that SEO takes time and agreed to continue, but that did not sit right with me. The results had not arrived the way I said they would, so I offered the client 50% off my fee until the site started growing again. I was confident the strategy was right, and I was prepared to stand behind it.

Solution

The strategy was built on programmatic SEO, because the demand in this market is highly specific. Buyers do not search for "digital assets". They search for a particular type of asset with particular attributes, such as its audience size, age, monetisation status, special features, or region.

Keyword and market research mapped those patterns across every asset category and attribute. I then designed a scalable page system around them, with a hub page for each category and dedicated landing pages for each high-intent combination. Templated titles, headings, and page content matched each page precisely to its search, and internal linking connected every category hub to its attribute pages so authority flowed through the whole structure.

Because the domain was brand new, technical SEO mattered from day one. Clean URLs, crawlable navigation, structured product information, and careful indexation management helped Google discover and trust a large set of new pages quickly. Conversion rate optimisation then shaped the listing pages around buyer confidence, so visitors arriving from a specific search could find a matching account and complete an order.

The pages were also built with generative engine optimisation (GEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO) in mind. Clear, structured information about each account type makes the pages easy for AI assistants to understand, parse, and recommend.

Result

The breakthrough came exactly as the strategy predicted. From late June 2026, the programmatic pages began ranking. Monthly Google clicks climbed from 139 in June to 1,105 in July and 2,206 in August, when the site averaged over 70 clicks a day. Search Console marked the surge with five milestones in under four weeks, from 1K clicks in 28 days on 31 July to 2K by 26 August.

Over six months, the site earned 5.1K Google clicks and 51.4K impressions, compared with 58 clicks and 281 impressions in the six months before. In the last three months alone, clicks rose 2,667% and impressions 5,707%.

The programmatic structure did the heavy lifting. Category and attribute landing pages generated over 90% of clicks to the site's pages, with many high-intent, attribute-specific purchase searches ranking on page one. Buyers now arrive from around the world, led by the United States and the United Kingdom. In August 2026, Google Analytics recorded 2.7K active users, up 136.9%, and organic search delivered 2.3K sessions, up 130% and more than double any other channel. AI assistants sent a further 126 sessions.

Most importantly, search turned into revenue. On 10 August 2026, the client received the first order from organic search: a payment of 380.54 USD. Because the engagement was priced at my original 2025 rates, one more order will cover the client's entire SEO investment. From a client who had almost given up, the message that followed said everything: thank you.

WhatsApp messages from the client sharing the first order payment of 380.54 US dollars received on 10 August 2026, followed by a message in Sinhala thanking Sathmina for the work and support.
The first order from organic search, shared by the client on 10 August 2026: "Boss, there's some good news", with a payment of 380.54 USD. Their follow-up, translated from Sinhala: "I'm really grateful 🥹 We went through a lot to build that. You worked hard too, and it's not like you took a lot of money for it. You gave me offers and helped so much. Thank you, boss 🥹" Payment references redacted.
