How SEO Became the Primary Growth Channel for CarePolicy.US on Its Way to $1M+ in Sales
A Sri Lankan-founded US healthcare licensing company that entered the American market with limited search visibility. Over two-plus years of ongoing SEO, generative engine optimisation (GEO), and answer engine optimisation (AEO), organic search became its largest acquisition channel, and the brand became a regularly cited source in AI search, as the business passed the $500K first-year milestone and went on to exceed $1M in sales.
From 84 Monthly Visitors to 113,834

The online store recorded 84 visitors in November 2023. Between December 2023 and September 2026 it received 113,834 visitors. This chart counts every channel, not only organic search, and the platform changed its visitor definition in July 2026.
4,526 Ranking Keywords

By September 2026, Semrush tracked 4,526 organic keywords: 27 in the top three, 130 in positions four to ten, and 72 appearances in Google AI Overviews.
May 2024 Baseline

The May 2024 starting point: 285 ranking keywords, only 27 of them on page one and just 4 in the top three.
New Channel: 82.3K Google AI Impressions in 4 Months

Search Console's Generative AI features report is still in beta, with data starting on 18 May 2026. In the four months since then, carepolicy.us has earned 82.3K impressions in Google's AI answers, with daily peaks above 1,100. This is where answer engine optimisation (AEO) shows: question-led pages with concise, answer-first sections that Google's AI can lift directly into its responses.
New Channel: 186.6K Copilot Citations in 6 Months

Bing's AI Performance report is also in beta. In six months, carepolicy.us has earned 186.6K citations across Microsoft Copilot and partner AI experiences, with an average of 51 of the site's pages cited and daily citations reaching 2,000. Generative engine optimisation (GEO) made this possible by giving AI models a clear, consistent brand entity and factual, well-structured content they can trust and cite.
2025: Active Users Up 111.9%

Google Analytics for calendar year 2025 against 2024: 53K active users (up 111.9%) and 4.9K add-to-carts (up 33.1%).
Last 90 Days: Add-to-Carts Up 116.7%

The growth is still compounding. In the 90 days to September 2026, active users rose 63.3% to 14K and add-to-carts rose 116.7% to 1K against the previous period.
GEO & AEO Visibility, Backed by Authority

Ahrefs records 87 AI answers citing the site, including 61 in Google AI Overviews, plus Copilot, AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini. Behind that GEO and AEO visibility is real authority: Domain Rating 34 and 561 referring domains, because AI engines favour sources the wider web already trusts.
Organic Search: The Largest Channel

Organic search delivered 48K sessions in 2025, up 80.4% and roughly 60% of all sessions. That makes it the largest single channel, though not the only one.
SEO Performance Champion, 2025
At the CarePolicy.US 2025 Gala Night & Awards Ceremony, I received the SEO Performance Champion Award. Ada Derana Biz English covered the event alongside the company's milestone of serving more than 1,700 providers across the United States.
The business results have been independently reported too. In July 2025, Newswire.lk and EIN Presswire covered CarePolicy.US passing half a million dollars in revenue within its first year.

01
Challenge
CarePolicy.US, founded by Sri Lankan entrepreneur Anton Fonseka, helps US care providers get licensed and stay compliant. It serves home care agencies, home health agencies, group homes, residential programmes, and behavioural health providers with state-aligned policy and procedure manuals, licensing documentation, and ongoing compliance support. The team works from Sri Lanka, but every customer is in the United States.
The business did not start from zero, but its search visibility was thin. Its online store recorded 84 visitors in November 2023. When I joined as SEO Specialist in May 2024, Semrush tracked 285 ranking keywords. Only 27 of them were on page one, and just 4 were in the top three.
The market made that hard to fix. Licensing rules differ in each of the 50 states and again by provider type, so demand is split across thousands of specific searches rather than a few head terms. Healthcare compliance is also a Your Money or Your Life topic, where Google expects strong trust and expertise signals, and established US consultancies already held those positions.

Solution
I led the SEO programme end to end, covering strategy, technical SEO, content, authority, and analytics. I also built and managed an in-house marketing team of around five people, including content writers, junior SEO executives, and digital marketing interns, with SOPs and workflows so the work could scale without losing quality.
Search demand and competitor analysis came first. I mapped searches by state and by provider type, then studied which pages competing consultancies ranked with and where their coverage was thin. That turned a fragmented market into a prioritised roadmap rather than a list of disconnected keywords.
The site architecture was then rebuilt around that demand. State-level landing pages gave each state and provider combination its own relevant entry point, with page content matched to the specific regulatory need rather than templated copy. Topical authority content hubs covered licensing processes, compliance requirements, and provider questions, and a hub-and-spoke internal linking structure passed relevance from guides into the commercial pages.
Technical SEO kept that growing structure efficient. The work covered crawlability and index management, canonicalisation, site speed and Core Web Vitals, structured data, and ongoing technical health monitoring for an e-commerce platform whose page count kept expanding.
Authority came from two directions. A link building programme earned relevant referring domains, and digital PR secured coverage in business and news publications, which also strengthened the brand's trust signals in a YMYL category. On-page trust signals, including accreditation, expertise, and clear company information, supported the same E-E-A-T goal.
SEO was tied directly to revenue. I ran SEO and conversion rate optimisation experiments informed by analytics data, so rankings translated into enquiries and orders rather than traffic alone.
Finally, the programme was built for AI search as well as the traditional results, through generative engine optimisation (GEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO). AEO shaped key pages around the exact questions providers ask about licensing, with concise, answer-first sections, question-led headings, and structured data that Google AI Overviews and AI Mode can quote directly. GEO made CarePolicy.US easy for large language models to understand and trust: a clear, consistent brand entity across the site and third-party coverage, factual content with specific state-level detail, and the authority signals AI engines use when choosing which sources to cite.

Result
Ranking keywords grew from 285 in May 2024 to 4,526 by September 2026, almost sixteen times the starting footprint. Page-one keywords grew from 27 to 157, and top-three positions from 4 to 27. Within a 12-month period, organic visitors grew by 973%.
By 2025, organic search was the company's largest acquisition channel. Google Analytics recorded 48K organic sessions that year, up 80.4% on 2024 and roughly 60% of all sessions. Active users more than doubled to 53K, about 85% of them in the United States, and add-to-carts rose 33.1% to 4.9K. The growth is still compounding: in the 90 days to September 2026, active users rose 63.3% and add-to-carts 116.7% against the previous period.
AI search has become a fast-growing new channel. Google and Bing are still rolling out AI visibility reporting in beta, and CarePolicy.US has already built a substantial presence in both. It earned 82.3K impressions in Google's generative AI features in the four months since Search Console's data begins, and 186.6K citations across Microsoft Copilot and partner experiences in six months. Ahrefs independently tracks 87 AI answers citing the site, including 61 in Google AI Overviews. These are the results of the GEO and AEO work: because the content was structured to answer questions directly and the brand was established as a trusted entity, CarePolicy.US was ready when providers began asking AI assistants instead of only typing queries into Google.
These results supported the company's commercial growth. CarePolicy.US passed half a million dollars in revenue within its first year, as publicly reported in July 2025, and has since exceeded $1M in sales while serving more than 1,700 providers across the United States. Not every sale came from search, because direct, referral, email, and social channels all played a part. But organic search was the primary growth engine, and it keeps growing two-plus years into an ongoing programme.
